This may be known to local birders but
wanted to pass it along anyway. Last couple of months on Thursday
evenings, I drop off my daughther at the gymnastics center at the Edward P
Carmichael park on Yesterday’s experience was typical.
Spread across all the tree tops in the area – in the park and the
neighbourhood are hundreds of AMERICAN CROWS. I estimated 600 but there could easily be
more. I get there at 4:30PM when they appear to be flying in. They fly around, moving from trees,
generally creating quite a racket. Then the center of mass gradually shifts
north and by 5:20PM or so, they have moved out of sight. Not sure where they
roost, but I suspect they break up into smaller groups and spread out. Its quite an avian spectacle and worth a
look if you are in the area around that time. Vivek Tiwari San Jose |
