I walked for an hour at noon today in Guadalupe Oak Grove Park.
A GOLDEN EAGLE flew in a perched on tree limb on the Villa's property. Later it was seen flying low in an open area hunting ground squirrels. Eacn time I see an eagle in the park its been near noon. On the ridge I flushed a dark adult MERLIN which perched a short distance away. I believe its been here all winter but not on last years perch which was visible from the trail. Two RED TAILED HAWKS were calling and doing a courting display. One had juvenile plumage with a red tail and had it's talons extended. The adult did not. I don't know if they are a pair of an adult teaching young the display. A RED SHOULDERED HAWK was perched in the wooded area calling. An adult AM. KESTREL flew over clutching its prey.Three W. BLUEBIRDS were also seen near nest boxes.
