[SBB] Peregrine chased by Gull at San Jose State

This morning, while I was walking on campus at San Jose State, I heard a commotion on a roof above me, squawking that I could not at first identify. But because of our resident PEREGRINE FALCONS, I am attentive to such occurences. First I saw two large shadows emerge, then the birds in question: one of the PEREGRINES was being rather hotly pursued by a vocally enraged CALIFORNIA GULL! While the Peregrine, not surprisingly, was able to outfly its opponent, the gull appeared quite pleased with itself, as it circled back to the roof a few minutes later. We birdwatchers see something new everyday, and this certainly was unprecedented in my viewing, at least at such a distance from any body of water. While gulls often fly over our campus, I don't often see them hanging around or perched on buildings, either. BTW, the campus is admirably low on ROCK PIGEONS, doubtless because of the assidious work of the falcons.
