[SBB] Calero-Morgan Hill CBC, Dec 30 - preliminary results

The Calero-Morgan Hill CBC took place on Saturday, Dec 30, under clear skies - and low water levels at our inland reservoirs.  While still waiting for some final reports to come in, we currently stand at an unofficial total of 146 species as of today (12/31).

Here is a listing of our unusual birds and numbers.  Birds designated by caps are new for this count.

Greater White-fronted Goose
Cackling Goose

Bald Eagle (one at Anderson Reservoir)
Ferruginous Hawk (at least 3 noted)
Prairie Falcon
American Avocet

Owls: Barn Owl, W. Screech Owl, Great Horned Owl, N. Pygmy-Owl, Burrowing Owl (rare for this count), N. Saw-whet Owl

Varied Thrush - numbers are the highlights here with several parties reporting them and Mike Rogers finding over 550 alone in the eastern Diablo Range

Many thanks to all who took part on this year's count, and hope to see you again on the 2007 count.
