That's interesting. I saw an immature Brown Pelican there on Tuesday, December 19. I didn't think it was worth reporting, since Bill had already reported seeing both pelicans on Monday, but since I'm interested in your report, I suppose other people would be interested in mine. There was a wild feeding frenzy going on at Shoreline Lake on Tuesday around 1pm. 30 Double-crested Cormorants were feeding in a tight group, with 20 Forster's Terns and a few Ring-billed Gulls diving in among them. The Brown Pelican was flying around the lake and diving in behind the group and in other areas, mostly near the boat dock. It stopped to rest on the boat dock for a little while, but it was in the air most of the time. I'll post my pictures sometime this weekend.
When I went back there at noon on Wednesday, the lake was very quiet. The only somewhat unusual sighting was a female Belted Kingfisher.

Brown pelicans usually migrate south to La Jolla and Baja for winter
breeding, but this guy was hanging around here for some reason. He
flew off to paddle around Shoreline Lake after awhile. (Sorry about
the decapitated cormorant in the foreground.)
