I hiked out to the mouth of Stevens Creek today, 19
Aug 06, where I ran into Ann Verdi. We waited around
for about 2 hours for the ebbing tide to try for
shorebirds. Once some mud uncovered in the area many
birds came in including AMERICAN AVOCETS, WILLETS,
LONG-BILLED CURLEWS, MARBLED GODWITS, BLACK-BELLIED
PLOVERS, both DOWITCHERS, and WESTERN SANDPIPERS. We
managed to find a single basic-plumaged RED KNOT in
with the bunch, and I then had to hightail it out of
there for a previous engagement.
While waiting we had 22 BROWN PELICANS fly by and into
salt pond A2W.
