Folks:
This morning, 4/3/06, I stopped by the Palo Alto Baylands in light wind and
rain on a fairly low tide. About 70 BONAPARTE'S GULLS flew in from the
sewage plant to preen--about half are showing breeding plumage now. I did
see one of the male EURASIAN WIGEON that has been wintering here, not far
from the I.C. parking lot.
At Shoreline Park, I could see one BURROWING OWL on the mound across from
Michael's. A near-adult GOLDEN EAGLE was perched on a lamp over the
road. This may be the same bird that has been more or less around all
winter. Two HORNED GREBES were still on Shoreline Lake.
