It is actually late for titmouse and
chickadee nesting. They nest the earliest of the cavity nesters. The inclement
weather has thrown them off. Cavity nesters do compete for sites. It happens all
the time. The truly nasty competitors are starlings, house sparrows, and house
wrens. Unless the competition is a nonnative species however, it is good to let
nature take its course. I have had WEBL usurped by ATFC usurped by HOWR.
You might install another box nearby to alleviate the congestion.
