[SBB] Rancho San Antonio OSP (Warbling Vireo)

SBBers.

This morning, 03/23/06, I heard a familiar song at Rancho San Antonio.  It was from my FOS WARBLING VIREO, a welcome sight.  Later, I was scanning to find another singer when an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER  flew down from the shrub to a small puddle in front of me to take a bath.

Along the Lower Meadow Trail a covey of 30 CALIFORNIA QUAIL foraged with GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWs and CALIFORNIA TOWHEEs oblivious to the constant stream of hikers and joggers.  Most surprising to me was a CALIFORNIA THRASHER among them who also seemed unconcerned about the foot traffic.

At 12:30 PM I spotted an interesting flyer near Deer Hollow Farm.  It was a bat.  Previously I have seen bats only in the evening.

My last interesting sight involved two male HAIRY WOODPECKERs having a territorial dispute.  One of them flew at the other frequently as it foraged in an oak.
