Folks:
This afternoon, 3/23/06, I visited Carlin Otto's yard in Palo Alto from
about 1335 to 1515 hrs with Rosalie Lefkowitz. The three of us sat outside
(hey, a nice day for a change) and watched the bird activity. In the first
hour we had good looks at a male WILSON'S WARBLER, presumably an early
migrant, although it was silent. The subadult male SUMMER TANAGER showed
up about 1455 hr and we had brief looks over the next minute and a half
before it left. It had considerable red above, yellow below, and a pale bill.
Carlin also saw the male this morning. It has been here since Monday,
visiting mostly to eat peanuts from the peanut feeder.
