All,
This morning Frank Vanslager and I had a male ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRD along the
(un-named?) road on the eastern edge of the Spring Valley Golf
Course. Later we had another poorly seen male ALHU in the southeastern
portion of Ed Levin County Park doing it's "U" shaped dive display which
included a well heard hum on some of the closer passes (no
stuttering). A couple BARN SWALLOWS in the northern section of the park
were a first of the year for us. During a quick stop on the way home
we had several AMERICAN PIPITS in Arzino Ranch near the Jubilee
Christian Center. Earlier we tried for but missed the Rufous
Hummingbird found by Roland Kenner (3/11) and re-found a couple days
later (3/13) by Frank and others a half mile or so past the
parking lot at the end of Prospect Road in the Fremont Older Open Space
Preserve (lots of nice bird activity there thou).
Take care,
Bob Reiling
