[SBB] Vasona

Howdy all....
 
Did a quick stop at Vasona today to check on the Great Blue Herons....we have chicks in Nest 4....you can hear them calling ever so lightly.  Nest 2 and Nest 10 have herons sitting....the rest of the colony's nests are empty.
 
Before I left for NY the colony had six active nests....don't know what happened in the three weeks I was gone...but we now have only three active nests.....
 
Also, a Cackling Goose feeding with the other Canada Geese on the lawn as you drive towards the Children's Playground.
 
The Red-shouldered Hawks are back to nest.....saw the male today..what a beauty...
 
A Merlin on the line on Winchester Blvd......
