[SBB] Band-tailed Pigeon vs. Gray Squirrel

Hello all,

This morning I saw a solitary BAND-TAILED PIGEON in my back yard (South 
Palo Alto).  An ornery squirrel took a dislike to the pigeon and repeatedly 
lunged at the bird.  The pigeon successfully drove the squirrel back a few 
times by raising it's wings.  However, the squirrel "won" by leaping on the 
pigeon causing it to fly away.  There were about 5 other squirrels in the 
yard at the time, but only this one had pigeon issues.

I know squirrels are territorial this time of year, but I've never seen one 
drive off a bird like this.  Also, I rarely see Band-tailed Pigeons in my 
neighborhood, and am wondering if there have been other sightings.  I'm 
between Palo Verde School and the YMCA.
