Howdy all....
What a great day for backyard birds....
Today I had three male Purple Finch and what I think are two female Purple
Finch....bright white eyebrow and malar .....the only thing is that one has
female has a greenish back....could just be the wet feathers....but enough to
see the difference between both females. The males are just
outstanding.....beautiful red wash all over and clean chest....what a pretty
bird....
Quail, yes Quail the bird I have been waiting for have arrived...four males
and one female....I am jumping of joy....
Today at the feeders and on the ground: male and female Nuttall's, CA
Towhee and Spotted Towhee, lots of Juncos, White & Gold Crowned Sparrows, a
pair of Bewicks Wrens, Lesser and American Goldfinch, House Finch, Oak Titmice,
Chickadees, Mourning Doves, QUAIL, White-breasted Nuthatch....
In yard: Black Phoebe and a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks....
Wishing all good birding (and sunshine)....
Best regards,
Linda Sullivan
