[SBB] SFBBO Fall Challenge begins Saturday

All,

For those of you who haven't heard about it yet, SFBBO's (San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory's) Fall Big Day fundraiser "The Fall Challenge" starts this Saturday. The idea is to do a Big Day and have the proceeds go to SFBBO, helping them greatly in keeping their wonderful programs running, including the banding work at one of our favorite birding spots along Coyote Creek! If some of you don't know how to do a "Big Day" that's not a problem, there are several guided trips that you can join and the trip leaders will explain the concept and even help you identify lots of birds for your fundraising efforts. SFFBO has lots of tips on how to fundraise (see their website below) but if you are not interested in that you can still take part in the guided trips simply by paying the Fall Challenge entry fee of $25.

The guided trips are of varying intensity. You can join a half-day trip, or go dawn to dusk with die-hard birders. The different options are posted on the SFFBO website listed below. The first trips are this Saturday 17 Sep. I am leading a trip to various bayside areas in Santa Clara County from Alviso to Palo Alto, starting at 8am amd going until 1pm or 2pm - whatever it takes to find 100 species! Phil Gordon is also leading a half-day trip Saturday in Alameda County - see the website for details.

Sign up for the trips with Sharon at [[email protected]]

If anyone is also subscribed to pen-birds or EBB these trips may be of interest to birders in those groups as well.

Hope to see some of you Saturday!
