Hi Everyone,
A few observation from Ed Levin CP this morning as Janet and I took a morning walk.
In a flock of insectivors near the entrance kiosk to the Elm Picnic area / Sandy Wool Lake was a Willow Flycatcher, an Orange-crowned Warbler, two Wilson's Warblers, and numerous Bushtits. Steller's Jays were heard calling in the area.
An accipiter was seen in the same area near the "bat boxes". Later, at Spring Valley Pond, we saw our first of the fall Sharp-shinned Hawk.
A Barn Owl was roosting in the pine tree with the three rocks under it, near the play ground equipment. Based on the number of "pellets", this is obviously the new roost tree for the Barn Owl(s). The pine directly at the end of the park lot (their former roost tree) was removed this last spring.
A Western Tanager, 2-3 Western Bluebirds, and 19 Wild Turkeys were in the area of the Spring Valley Pond.
When we returned home, an Orange-crowned Warbler was bathing in our backyard bird-bath.
