[SBB] Question on eye problems w/birds

Howdy all....
 
I have a question and you can email me off line if this is not proper for  
SBB..
 
I know that Finch get an eye disease (can't remember the name)...I have  seen 
some of them at my feeders both here in Los Gatos and in Saratoga with this  
problem.....
 
Last week I saw my CA Towhee with a really bad case of this  
disease...actually worse than the finch....just awful.....
 
Today, the CA Thrasher was feeding at the house and I was watching it's  
behavior and noticed a big change...when looking further I noticed one eye one  
closed with its feathers covered over the eye.....nothing like the Finch or  
Towhee...but nevertheless it seemed to me like the same disease.
 
Has anyone else noticed this in birds other than finches?
