[SBB] Snowy Plovers (Alviso Marina) plus

Folks:

This morning, 9/6/2005, along with others (Bob Reiling, Frank Vanslager, Cagan Sekercioglu, Peggy Don, Roy Carlson, Ann Verdi, and Dave Quady), we enjoyed good views of the juvenile BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER from about 0915 to 1040 hr. It was on the west levee of A16, from 100 to 200 m north of the southwest corner. It was feeding on insects, apparently, in a reddish weed (Mike M. says it is one of the iceplants) beside the levee and was on the levee as well. There were also numerous Least Sandpipers here and an occasional Western. It flushed with trains.

Afterwards, I stopped by the Alviso Marina and cycled out to the north end of the first impoundment. There I saw two juvenile SNOWY PLOVERS.
