All,
I spent my lunch break trying to refind the adult Gray Catbird banded at
CCFS this morning 10/26/05. I spent most of the time near the banding
trailer, but also checked the vicinity of net 9385C, where the bird had
been originally caught.
Mewing calls were heard, but they all belonged to the same BLUE-GRAY
GNATCATCHER that I saw Saturday. This bird spent time north of the big
eucalyptus, across the trail towards the creek from here, and in the
coyotebrush near the banding trailer.
An adult PRAIRIE FALCON was perched atop the high tension tower across
from the trailer for over an hour, making one pass over the overflow
channel before returning to its perch.
Other birds of note included 3 WOOD DUCKS flying to the east overhead, 1
TREE SWALLOW, 6 HOUSE WRENS, 1 WINTER WREN, 1 SAY'S PHOEBE, and 1
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER.
Dean Manley was still searching when I left.
