Greetings Birders!
Monday December 19 is the date for the Palo Alto Count. Welcome back to those of you who have been faithful to this count for many years, and welcome also to any and all newcomers. The Palo Alto CBC covers a wide range of habitats, from the bayside to the hills, in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. This count concludes with the traditional dinner/countdown, graciously hosted each year by Ruth and Gene Troetschler.
Our count circle contains eight regions. Each region has a coordinator, who is responsible for distributing and collecting the various participation forms and checklists, and assuring that they are properly filled out and delivered to the countdown. This year, we are losing two coordinators, people who have been loyal to this count for a long time and will be sorely missed.
In order for the count to function smoothly, these coordinators MUST be replaced, so we need two people to step up and assume these positions. It isn't a difficult job...birding experience isn't even a requirement. Kim at SCVAS and I will do everything we can to assist you and make your contribution simple, effective and rewarding. I know many of you who would make excellent coordinators, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Finally, if you have never participated in this count and desire to do so, please let me know, and I will see that you are placed with others in an area that meets your abilities.
