I saw a pair of them earlier in the week at Arastradero -- a life
bird for me. They were up high on the hill (near the southern end
of the Bowl loop) in a big oak. I got some far-away pictures but
nothing that compares to yours.

The WHITE-TAILED KITES at Arastradero are quite impressive -- I
usually see one or two, but this time I saw what I think was five
different pairs, each with a territory staked out, plus a couple
of singles. All, of course, avoiding coming anywhere close when I
had my camera out, in that charming way raptors have. :-)

We were actually there looking for tarantulas, of which I've seen
no evidence yet this year, either at Arastradero or Alum Rock.
