[SBB] Palo Alto, etc.

This morning I first checked around the ranger station at the Palo
Alto Baylands, finding one YELLOW WARBLER and a few YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERs,
and not much more. The area by the wastewater plant, past the end of
Embarcadero Way was a lot more active, with more than 20 Yellow-rumps.
Among the largest group, in the same area Mike Rogers described from two
days ago, was the (continuing) BLACKPOLL WARBLER, which I observed for
about a half minute at about 9:25. I also had one YELLOW WARBLER (heard),
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, and a probable ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER.
I then moved on to CCFS, where I joined other birders in not seeing
the Canada Warbler; it was also not captured in the nets. I spent a little
over two hours, until close 1o 1 PM; when I checked back a little before
2, it had still not been seen for today. Meanwhile, I had been intrigued
by Mike's report of a Pectoral Sandpiper concentration, and spent some
time trying to figure out if I could see them. But I was unable to find
a vantage point which gave a decent view of any pond with shorebirds.
After lunch, the pond at State and Spreckles had about 250 DOWITCHERs
(all or most LONG-BILLED), but only handfuls of other shorebirds apart
from Avocets and Stilts. One DUNLIN did how up, and a PEREGRINE FALCON
created some momentary excitement.
