I think your goose is likely a domestic goose or offspring from a
domestic
goose. One feature that sets the Branta geese (Canada, Cackling,
Brant,
Barnacle, Red-breasted, Nene) apart from the other true geese is
that they
have black legs. The Anser geese, which include domestics, as well
as the
Chen Geese which are very closely related to Anser have orange or
pink legs.
While normally I'd hate to disagree with you (given my
trackrecord....) -- that picture doesn't do it justice. Viewing it in
person, it seems clear to be a canada goose with a color variation.
Beyond that, it's flocking with the Canada geese, and Laurie has seen
it flying in formation with them, something I've never seen another
breed do. It might be worth someone else coming out and taking a look
(it's been around a week or so, or longer, so I expect it'll stick
for a while longer), and I'll try to get a better picture this
weekend, but given it's flying with the Canada geese, I'll stick to
the color variation right now.
