Mary Kelly and I went south to north on these roads today. Some of our
sightings were:
Western Bluebird
Say's Phoebe
Rock Wren
Horned Lark
Lark Sparrow
Golden Eagle
Kestrel
Red-Tailed Hawk
Ferruginous Hawk adult (at 1:30 pm on the east side of Felter Rd between
Marsh Rd and Calaveras Rd, on the grounds of a house and horse training stable.)
It was irritated by 2 Yellow-billed Magpies, and alternately perched on the
top of a tree and flew in tight circles, giving us nice looks from different
angles. After about 15 minutes it had had enough and flew over the hill.
We also saw a coyote and a bobcat. The bobcat, though close enough to keep
a wary eye on us, pounced on some prey and ate it.
