Hi All,
I poked around briefly in the early afternoon today 5/19/2005 at Hidden Villa to see how birds were responding to the cessation of rain. There wasn't much going on, but it was interesting to see two Vaux's Swifts AND a White-throated Swift mixed in with Barn, Cliff, and Violet-green Swallows overhead. I don't recall seeing both swift species feeding together before. And there are at least 2 Lazuli Buntings still on apparent territories here after all. Today marks the one-month point for LAZB song on the farm.
A Black-headed Grosbeak was carrying food near my office yesterday and a Nuttall's Woodpecker was feeding large nestlings which poked their heads out of the nest cavity (in a dead-topped maple near the tin barn) in their eagerness for food.
