Folks:
This morning, 5/18/2005, I got in a nice morning walk out to the Charleson
Slough outer dike where Sidd R. had a White-faced Ibis last evening. I
didn't see any sign of the ibis, but the Flood Control Basin is a big place.
I then drove down to the Ulistac Natural Area to see if migrants were still
coming through or grounded by the weather. I encountered good numbers of
migrants here: a silent OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, a WARBLING VIREO, 3
SWAINSON'S THRUSHES, 2 YELLOW WARBLERS, a male TOWNSEND'S WARBLER, 4
WILSON'S WARBLERS, 13 WESTERN TANAGERS, and a singing BLACK-HEADED
GROSBEAK. I also had a silent Empidonax, but the best I could do with the
brief views was to narrow it down to Hammond's/Dusky/Gray Flycatcher, sigh.
Bill
