Hi All,
I, too, was inspired by Pat Kenny's report, and limped out this morning
to find my Hermit Warbler. Alas, no Hermit, but the pine in the area described
(near the North levee ramp) and the surrounding trees were full of WILSON'S
WARBLERS, a pair of SWAINSON'S THRUSHES, a family of WARBLING VIREOS, and
several ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS.
In addition to the other migrant species Mike Mammoser mentioned, I also
had two very bright YELLOW WARBLERS with red-streaked breasts, and a pair of
HOODED ORIOLES. The resident species were out in full force this morning
too. Three young BLACK PHOEBES were begging from feeding parents, six
boisterous BEWICK'S WRENS flitted about, and high overhead (higher than the SJC
flight path) three RED-TAILED HAWKS screached.
What a lovely little park!
