Following in Al Eisners footsteps I birded the Agua Caliente trail at
Ed Levin this lunchtime. It was very windy, but I had a great outing,
with WESTERN KINGBIRDS (4 kiting over the field), WESTERN BLUEBIRDS (a
pair carrying food to a nest), a WESTERN TANAGER, BULLOCKS ORIOLES
(both sexes), RUFOUS CROWNED SPARROW, a singing male LAZULI BUNTING,
WILSONS WARBLER, BARN SWALLOWS and CLIFF SWALLOWS foraging over the
hillside, a TURKEY VULTURE (crusing the ridge, looking for
hang-gliders?), plus the usual suspects. Bright, beautiful, full
breeding plumage birds on a sunny day, and 2 lifers, does it get any
better?
