[SBB] Cattle Egret (Llagas Creek)

Folks:

This morning, 3/25/2005, I walked up to the 4th of the old Gilroy sewer ponds north of Bloomfield Road and west of Llagas Creek. Lots of Brush Rabbits this spring, which may have something to do with the three Bobcats seen. In the flooded field north of Bloomfield, I saw a single CATTLE EGRET along with 2-3 Great Egrets and 1-2 Snowy Egrets. Most of these were not in the field, but were on the edge of a ditch levee or down in the ditch (and mostly out of sight). Walking back, I did not see the Cattle Egret. A pair of BLUE-WINGED TEAL were asleep in the 3rd pond. RING-NECKED DUCKS are still around with 2 pairs in the sewer ponds and, later, 4 males and 7 females at the Ogier Avenue ponds.
