Re: [SBB] American Dipper in Stevens Creek

American Dippers have been noted in the Twin Creeks area upstream of  Almaden 
Reservoir.  This winter I have seen dipper twice along Herbert  Creek at the 
first bridge where Herbert Creek joins with the creek coming down  from 
Barrett Canyon.  Last spring on a Big Day we noted a pair of dippers  nesting at 
this bridge.  Normally I need to go further upstream along  Herbert Creek to find 
dippers and possible nesting.
 
These two creeks flow year round, but because of private property and "no  
trespassing" signs I'm not able to get very far up on either of the creeks; in  
fact, I can't go upstream on the Barrett Creek at all.
 
Both creeks flow from the south-facing slopes of the Loma Prieta / Mt  
Umhunum area.
 
I have only seen dippers here in winter and spring.  I have not seen  them 
during summer and fall months.  And I check this area on a fairly  regular basis.
