Birders-
Saturday at 3 PM there were still three pairs of hooded mergansers in the pond at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery near Rancho San Antonio.
Sunday 2-6 Ed Frost, Charlie Moores and I birded the Los Banos Wildlife Area (LB), and the Merced (M) and San Luis (SL) NWR's. Highlights included 4 tundra swans at SL, 2 American bitterns at SL, hundreds of sandhill cranes at M, 1,000's of white geese off the Merced rufuge (too distant to ID), a burrowing owl near M five feet outside the car window, and all three teal at M. We missed the vermilion flycatcher in the fog at LB - assuming it is still around. A total of 84 species were seen during the day.
