[SBB] Black Skimmers (A1)

Folks:

I made an early afternoon visit today, 3/3/2005, to the edge of outer Charleston Slough where a purported Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow was seen yesterday. I had no more luck than Reiling and crew did earlier in the day with the exception that a NWR maintenance truck came out on the levee between Salt Pond A1 and Charleston Slough and put many birds to flight that presumably were roosting on the island in the NE corner of A1 that is hidden from the public levees. Once in flight I was able to count 20 BLACK SKIMMERS, including one that still appeared to be in immature plumage.

Bill
