Bill, I was adrenalinized by a possible Redstart in
Kern County last week. Bright yellow flashes from the
tail were the best field marks. As the bird disappeard
and I worked the field marks back and forth in my
mind, it also occurred to me that female orioles were
flying in the area, and I concurred that I had seen
either a female Bullock's or a juvenile Bullock's.
This is by no means to say you didn't see a Redstart!
Just more info to think about. I'd encourage you to go
back and look for the bird. That's where all the fun
is.
