Today at around 1pm there was a female BUFFLEHEAD in the pond on the
left as going from Sunnyvale WPCP and moffett (the levy takes a big jog
to avoid this pond). There was an all white duck (mallard?) chick here
too. In the channel on the right there was a breeding plumage male
EARED GREBE who was there last week as well. The levy is somewhat
overgrown with mustard making for messy, allergy triggering biking.
Two adult GREEN HERONS were in the channel between the treatment plant
and A4. There was a juvenile there as well, but it looked more like a
night heron (I only got a brief look but I later saw an adult BLACK
CROWNED NIGHT HERON farther up in the same channel.) There was a COMMON
MOORHEN there too.
