Hi all,
I realize this is an out-of-area report, but I thought it might be of interest to those of you taking a trip to Yuba Pass this month.
This past Friday (June 3rd) we discovered an active Black-backed Woodpecker nest hole in an easy to see location as follows:
>From the parking lot of the campground at Yuba Pass, proceed east approximately 75 yards on Hwy 49. You'll see a sign post with two signs, a sharp right-turn arrow and a 25. Approxinately 30 ft. past the sign post, and about 20 ft. in from the right side of the road, is the tree with the nest hole. The hole is about 8 ft. up from the ground.
