I went to the south county this morning, hoping to get close, from my car
on the back roads, to two birds I haven't had much luck photographing,
Western Kingbird and Yellow-billed Magpie. (The latter are very wary of big
lenses -- as are corvids generally.) When this got me out of beautiful
early sun into fog, it seemed like a bad decision, but while I didn't get
good pictures of my target birds -- didn't even SEE a Kingbird -- I still
had some fun. Best moment was a view of a displaying tom WILD TURKEY with
three hens on Canada Road, near the junction with Gilroy Hot Springs Road.
Also had a nice view of an OSPREY perched below the dam at Coyote
Reservoir. And a couple of other photo ops, all posted at
http://www.pbase.com/tgrey/latest.
