The Wild Bird Center birded at Charleston Slough this morning and saw both
White-faced Ibis, a male Blue winged Teal and 9 Lesser Yellowlegs all in
the Coast Casey Forebay. Adult Am.Avocets were threatening walkers getting
too close to their tiny chicks. Perched juvenile Tree Swallows being fed
by adults were enjoyed by all.
Folks:
As this is the Palo Alto Summer Bird Count day and the Mountain View
Forebay is in my sector, I rushed back down this afternoon to look for the
Blue-winged Teal and the nine Lesser Yellowlegs. Alas, no luck with
either. I searched both the forebay and nearby Adobe Creek for the teal
and came up empty. With yellowlegs, the best I could do was tally nine
Greater Yellowlegs in the forebay and two in Adobe Creek. The only easy
birds were the continuing ibis.
