Good morning,
Yellow-breasted Chat continues at Llagas Creek north of Bloomfield Road in
southernmost Santa Clara County. The bird was singing sporadically in the
weedy basin surrounded by willows that one reaches first when walking north
on the northwest levee.
Also present in the first inundated basin were numbers of Black-necked
Stilt, American Avocet, a lingering Cinnamon Teal, Gadwall, Mallard,
American Coot.
Also present during my very brief visit (in the order observed): Cliff
Swallow, Starling, Song Sparrow, Nuttal's Woodpecker, Scrub Jay, Brewer's
Blackbird, Green Heron (2), Mourning Dove, American Crow, Chestnut-backed
Chickadee, House Finch, Black-headed Grosbeak, Pied-billed Grebe, Great
Egret, Bushtit, Turkey Vulture, White-tailed Kite,Bewick's Wren, Black
Phoebe.
good birding,
Mark Paxton
