There's still a GREAT BLUE HERON nest visible from the western levee
along Coyote Creek between Tasman and Montague. Earlier in spring there
were more nests here.
In any case, today at around 6PM, I digiscoped a juvenile on the ground.
Later it flew up into the nest. There was an adult perched near the tree
which I did not photograph . Yesterday, there were two adults near the
nest.
On neither occasion did I see the adults feeding the juvenile. The
juvenile is as large as the adults and flies well too.
Do the birds continue to use the nest as a roost site even after the
juvenile has fledged?
A GREEN HERON flew by.
