OK - with all the Red Phalaropes in the area I decided to check out one of the easily accessible Campbell percolation's ponds located at Budd Road and San Tomas Expressway. I wanted to see if any came in this far from the bay.
It was at 4:45 PM this evening when I indeed found three Red Phalaropes in one of the three fresh water ponds found at this location. The phalaropes were actually calling to each other as one flew about a bit. From my vantage point I could not see in the other two ponds, so who knows what all was swimming over the next levy.
In this pond I also observed several American Coots and Buffleheads, a couple of Ring Necked Ducks a few Mallards and a single female Common Goldeneye.
