[SBB] Rinconada Hills

Good afternoon all....

Have been meaning to post about the birds here at Rinconada Hills...

I have had two Cooper's Hawks for the past week or so.... One has been
driving the Mourning Doves into my glass windows....but I keep going out and
uprighting the birds and the Cooper's is a bit dazed....can't figure out why he
can't get that Mourning Dove....It's quite a beautiful Cooper's Hawk....

Have had Band-tailed Pigeons for a couple of weeks (who gave them my new
address?)...

I put out suet that contains insects and the birds are going wild over
it....visiting the suet...Nuttall's, Bewick's Wren, juvie Scrub Jays, Stellar's
Jays, Nuthatches, Chickadees, and a juvie Cal Thrasher that is a hoot to
watch....it breaks off pieces that fall to the ground then it goes down to the
ground to eat it....

Around the complex and lake...a Green Heron, Spotted Sandpiper, Mallards,
Coots, Great Egret, Great Blue Heron, Canada Geese, Barn Swallows, Vaux's Swift
(2), Spotted and Cal Towhees, Bluebirds, Finch, Robins, Anna's, Phoebes and
Juncos.

The Red-shouldered hawks make an occasional stop by in the back and front
yard...the young must be looking for new territory as I only see the adults now.

Wishing you all good birding and my best regards,
Linda Sullivan
