Amy and I spent the day at Henry Coe SP on Sunday. In general there were few birds to be seen and most of those were silent. Not a single flycatcher of any kind was observed.
However, there were at least sixteen Wood Ducks in the small pond immediately north of the Hunting Hollow Trail found just after the trail crosses the creek (dry) after leaving the parking lot.
And, there were unprecedented numbers of Red-tailed Hawks and White-tailed Kites to be seen. A least four family groups of RTHA were observed, as well as several singletons. As many as ten WTKI were seen, including one pair engaged in display flights.
