South Bay Birders,
The female Costa's Hummingbird visited our feeders sporadically today (7 August), and was usually present for only a minute or two per hour most of the day. It visited more regularly from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.
If anyone wants to try to see this bird tomorrow evening after 6:00, e-mail me at [[email protected]] for directions.
A quick check of New Chicago Marsh this afternoon produced a juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper at State and Spreckles. Four Bonaparte's Gulls and two Black Skimmers were on the easternmost island in pond A-16 near the EEC.
Good birding,
Steve Rottenborn
