At the Palo Alto duck pond today, there was a large whitish Gull which
showed some possible Glaucous component: the apparently all-white primaries
and neatly barred undertail coverts. The bicolored bill, however, was not
as neat as one would expect for Glaucous, and its shape suggested more
Glaucous-winged, as did the amount of unpatterned pale gray on the wing
coverts, etc. Have others seen this bird? It seemed rather tame (as
are most of the Gulls here).
By the way, I did see the Grackle, about an hour after Dave's sighting.
