Good morning,
I birded the levee at Llagas Creek, upstream of Bloomfield Road from 9:00 to
9:25 this morning, getting only as far as the first, dry pond. The
Yellow-breasted Chat remains in the same area, remains elusive and remains
very vocal. Like Bob Reiling and Frank Vanslager, I thought I heard two
chats for a bit. From the first road down to the ponds, I scoped the second
pond that contains a bit of water. One Blue-winged Teal kept company with
Gadwall, American Coots and Mallards. An Eared Grebe was sporting "ears".
Other birds: Pied-billed Greebe, California Quail, Dowitchers (flying),
Pacific-slope Flycatcher, Wrentit, Cliff Swallow, Western Scrub Jay,
American Crow, Common Raven, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Oak Titmouse,
Bushtit, Common Yellowthroat, Wilson's Warbler, Black-headed Grosbeak,
Spotted Towhee, California Towhee, Song Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow, Brewer's
and Red-winged Blackbird, House Finch and European Starling.
