Hi All!
To add to Summer Brasuel's report:
This afternoon at Cunningham, the flock of BONAPARTE'S GULLS had
increased to about a dozen. There were also too many FORSTER'S TERNS to count. The
collection of birds at the pond north of the lake included several CANADA
GEESE with 6 goslings, one GREATER YELLOWLEGS, one breeding-plumaged DUNLIN,
one DOWITCHER sp, two KILLDEER, ten WESTERN SANDPIPERS, two female BUFFLEHEAD,
one MALLARD, one neon-billed RUDDY DUCK male, and one male CINNAMON TEAL. (A
female Ruddy Duck was tucked into the reeds--nesting?--on the north edge of
the lake.) A large flock of flapping CLIFF SWALLOWS was collecting mud on
the west edge of the pond, and a flock of 40 CEDAR WAXWINGS flew out over the
pond from the trees along the creek. Oh, and there was a herd of AMERICAN
COOTS that almost ran me down as they were being warned off by Canada Geese.
There was one WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW nearby; I could not find one Yellow-rumped
Warbler today.
