[SBB] OSPR & COHA

Yesterday, 12 Apr 05, there was an OSPREY hunting over the Great America
pond and adjacent San Tomas Aquino Creek in Santa Clara. It made a couple
stoops on some thrashing carp in the creek, but didn't go in for the kill.
Perhaps it didn't like the shallowness of the water.

Late this afternoon, 13 Apr 05, the male (adult) COOPER'S HAWK was sitting
about 20 feet up in an ash tree outside work here in Santa Clara. It was
quite nice to be able to stand right under it, looking through binoculars,
as it remained serenely sitting in place. I was even able to retrieve my
scope and get looks where the bird's head filled the scope view. I checked
the nest, but could see no bird up there. Perhaps the female is sitting
tightly out of view; I haven't seen her in days.
