This morning (28 Sep) I checked the northeast side of the Guadalupe River
both upstream and downstream from Montague Expwy. in San Jose. The
highlight was an HY/female-type Blue Grosbeak about 1/4-mile upstream from
Montague. The bird was originally in fruiting ornamental trees along the
outboard side of the levee, but it flew to the riparian habitat along the
river. Other migrants seen include the following:
1 Western Wood-Pewee
3 Willow Flycatchers
2 Western Flycatchers
6 Warbling Vireos
15 Yellow Warblers
4 Wilson's Warblers
2 Orange-crowned Warblers
25 Western Tanagers (most in the aforementioned fruiting ornamentals)
