The female Costa's Hummingbird I first noted at our house on 30 August has
been present on and off since then. It's hanging out somewhere else most of
the time, as it makes only occasional visits (usually brief, as it is
bullied by the other hummers), but it was still at our feeders several times
today. We've had at least one Black-chinned Hummingbird most days lately,
with 7 or 8 different individuals documented here over the past few weeks;
an HY male (with small purple spots coming in on the lower part of the
gorget) was here today. Still 10-20 Selasphorus hummingbirds present; most
are likely Rufous, but occasionally I've seen obvious Allen's (the outer
three pairs of rectrices being very narrow).
A Willow Flycatcher was foraging in our yard today, and a Pine Siskin flew
over the house calling.
