Folks:
This morning, 10/8/07, I stopped by the Palo Alto Baylands and birded
the ranger station, fennel patch, and vicinity. Birds seemed flighty
under the overcast, but were feeding actively in the fennel. I had a
brief look at a CHIPPING SPARROW, likely an adult. Later, I found a
fairly dull CLAY-COLORED SPARROW with little in the way of buff on
its breast. This is likely a different bird than Peter Metropulos
found on Saturday. Lingering migrants included a WILLOW FLYCATCHER,
2 YELLOW WARBLERS, and at least 6 COMMON YELLOWTHROATS in the
fennel. I saw my first MYRTLE WARBLER of the season, an immature. A
PEREGRINE FALCON flew over and perched on a tower for a while.
